SEND: Building for an inclusive future

According to the latest Department for Education data, although over 1.5 million children in England have Special Educational Needs (SEN) only 4.3% have an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP) that releases funding for the school. The threshold for receiving an EHCP has risen, forcing schools to use other funds to support children who previously had money allocated for teaching assistants and other interventions. Schools are consequently trying to meet the needs of all of their learners with fewer resources than in previous years.
