Teacher Tapp is eight years old this year 🎂 🥳 and since we started, we have asked more than 9,000 questions!
Results of those questions often throw up divisions of opinions among the teaching community and remind us that teachers are not one homogeneous group. Perhaps that’s why, when we see results where everyone in consensus, it is so surprising.
Here are some of the top five results where Teacher Tappers were almost completely united in agreement:
1. Ofsted inspectors and local context (98% agree)
Opinions on Ofsted are often divided, so to see this come in at the top of our chart was a bit of a surprise!
But here is a finding that shows HUGE agreement: teachers overwhelmingly believe inspectors must understand the local context if they’re to assess schools fairly. It’s a reminder that teaching doesn’t happen in a vacuum — communities matter.
2. Making a Difference (98% agree)
It’s the focus of almost every “Sign up to teaching” marketing campaign that has ever existed – and for good reason! Nearly every teacher feels they have positively impacted a student at some point. Amid all the challenges, this speaks to the heart of the profession: belief in making a difference.
3. The Andrew Tate Effect (90% agree)
A huge majority report that Tate’s influence has (and continues to have) a negative impact on pupils. It shows how strongly teachers see the role of culture and online figures in shaping young people’s lives. It’s a worrying finding – but one everyone should pay attention to.
4. Relationships at Work (90% agree)
The overwhelming majority of teachers report they have positive relationships at work. This finding highlights strong working relationships in schools. And this is so good to see – after all, collaboration isn’t just nice to have — it’s a foundation of resilience and success.
5. Social Media Regulation (96% agree)
Teachers back tighter rules for under-18s online. It’s a striking consensus on safeguarding and the role of policy in protecting pupils.
